Dr. Nickelson is a clinical psychologist and a lawyer. Using his 20+ years of scientific, clinical, legal and digital training and experience, he helps heatlhcare organizations efficiently and effectively discover, design, develop and deliver the highest quality healthcare resources, services, experiences and outcomes.
Dr. Nickelson's passion is creating human-centered, digitally-enabled solutions that improve healthcare. He has worked with providers, hospitals, health systems, payers, medical device manufacturers and retail/consumer health companies to rapidly develop and deliver solutions to many of healthcare’s most challenging problems.
With a strong commitment to equity, inclusion, access, and person-centered healthcare, Dr. Nickelson applies his knowledge of behavior change at the individual patient level up to the executive decision-makers. Using his background in law, Dr. Nickelson helps organizations protect client privacy, as well as understand, implement, and comply with HIPAA regulations, among many other legal and regulatory mandates to protect patients and client welfare.
Dr. Nickelson holds the distinction of writing the first telehealth legislation when he worked on Capitol Hill for the late Honorable Senator Kent Conrad, and has continued through today to create systems and processes to help ensure that access to quality health care is a right for all and not a privilege for a few.
Currently, Dr. Nickelson serves as a Senior Client Partner for Health and Behavior Change at Celerity where he established and is growing a new health care vertical to support his clients. Some of Dr. Nickelson's other notable work with major health systems, hospitals, device manufacturers, pharmaceutical companies, and leading financial services and commercial banking firms was through his roles as Principal Consultant for Healthcare and Behavior Change, as well as Vice-President of Healthcare and Client Growth at Nerdery, Director of Transformation Strategy and Behavior Change at Publicis Sapient, and Vice President and Senior Behavior Change Consultant for Consumer Health, Pharma and Biotech at Aimia, Inc.
His experience also includes Director of Digital Engagement at Siteworx, Inc., Director of Internet Strategy and Operations at the American Diabetes Association, and at the American Psychological Association, he served as Assistant Executive Director of the Office of Technology Policy and Projects, and Special Assistant to the Executive Director for Professional Practice.
Dr. Nickelson met Dr. Williams-Nickelson through their board and governance leadership roles and then executive staff positions at the American Psychological Association, where they worked to make psychological science, practice, and education more accessible and integrated in all aspects of life to help solve society's problems, and promote health. Since then, they have been partners in life and in their career pursuits.
